Biography

Sofia Vergara was born on July 10, 1972 in Barranquilla Columbia to a large family. She learned English at a bilingual school which led her to study dentistry. As a teenager, Sofia was discovered by a photographer while she was on a beach and thats how she got her start on the big screen doing Pepsi commercials for the Latin American markets, later working as a model and also starring Mexican telenova. Vergara then went to become a Univision television personality in mid-1990's after she relocated to the United States, she had also caught the attention of English-language audiences with a short, captivating turn in 1995 American Comedy Awards. By the end of the decade, the formidable Vergara had received the Hispanic woman of the year award.

Major Breaks in the entertainment world

Some major breaks for Sofia was when she landed two roles in Tyler Perry's movies Meet the browns and Made goes to jail in 2008 and 2009. She then went to land the role of Gloria who is Jay (Ed O'neil) wife on Modern Family. The show went on to win several Emmy awards, while Sofia won four consecutive Emmy nominations for outstanding supporting actress in comedy series and also she received four consecutive nominations as well.

Personal Life

Sofia married her childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez and they had a son together named Manolo, who was born in 1992, her and Joe divorced in1993. In July 2012, she became engaged to Nick Loeb, a New Yorker and film production company co-owner. The couple called it quits in May 2014.Vergara and found herself in a nasty divorce battle with Loeb in 2015. He sued her over control of a dozen embryos created by the two of them, but Sofia denies this accusation. Sofia then started dating True Blood and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello. In December 2014, Sofia and Joe announced that they were engaged. She revealed that she has obtained American citizenship, she then married Joe on November 22,2015 in Palm Beach, Florida.

Welcome to the fashion world Sofia!

Sofia didn't just win over the entertainment world, but in 2011 she signed a deal with Kmart to launch her clothing line called "Sofia" which she made affordable and chic for all women. Since then she also launched a jewelry and fragrance line in 2014.

Charity Work

Sofia has donated to over 11 charities:

Sofia who was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer at the age of 28 she survived it. She started a foundation in Colombia to help families cope with cancer. Sofia donated her 40th birthday to Crowfunded Charity.
